Zimbabwe's senior men's cricket team, the Chevrons, are finally heading home after the International Cricket Council (ICC) secured alternative travel arrangements following flight disruptions in India.

The Chevrons had completed their fixtures at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup on Sunday but were unable to depart as scheduled due to political tensions in the Gulf region. The instability affected several international flight routes, leading to delays and cancellations that left the squad stranded.

Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that the team will return in batches after the ICC intervened to facilitate revised travel plans.

The first group of players departed India on Wednesday, while the final contingent is expected to leave Delhi on Friday afternoon.

Team officials said the staggered departures were necessary due to limited seat availability on commercial flights, as airlines continue adjusting schedules in response to the ongoing regional uncertainty.

Despite the logistical setback, attention now shifts to the domestic cricket calendar. Players are expected to rejoin their respective franchises and national training programmes soon after arrival, as preparations continue for upcoming assignments.
