'Zimbabwe has 3 months' fuel reserves'

Government has assured the nation that Zimbabwe has adequate fuel reserves to meet demand for the next three months, easing fears of possible shortages linked to ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Acting Minister of Energy and Power Development Dr Zhemu Soda told the National Assembly yesterday that authorities had already assessed the country's fuel security and confirmed that reserves were sufficient.

Dr Soda, who is also the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, said a report outlining the country's preparedness had been presented to Parliament, showing that the situation remained stable.

His remarks came after legislators raised concerns over the potential impact of tensions in the Middle East on fuel supply and pump prices.

Dr Soda assured Parliament that Government storage facilities were adequately stocked and that fuel supply agreements with regional partners were still intact.

However, he warned that while Government had taken steps to secure supplies, fuel prices could still be affected by global market dynamics if disruptions occur in the international supply chain.

He said pricing at the pump is largely determined by global market forces and could change depending on developments affecting supply routes and international oil markets.
