A domestic dispute involving a Kuwadzana-based teacher has escalated into a traditional court case in Murehwa, after allegations of infidelity and threats forced her to leave her matrimonial home.

Beaulah Kambarami (46), a Grade 7 teacher, reportedly fled her home unannounced after her husband, Tinashe Gwarimbo, allegedly discovered romantic messages between her and her business associate, Simbarashe Jaramba (42).

Kambarami denies the allegations, insisting she left due to fears for her safety following what she described as threats.

According to Gwarimbo, the situation began after his wife introduced Jaramba as a fellow villager and proposed a joint farming venture to supplement her income. The project, he said, had been running successfully since 2024.

However, Gwarimbo claims he later uncovered evidence suggesting the two were involved in an affair prior to the business arrangement.

"I discovered that my wife's illicit affair with Jaramba started before she introduced him to me," he said, adding that Jaramba allegedly apologised when confronted.

Gwarimbo said he attempted to confront his wife, but she reportedly ended the call abruptly. Upon returning home later, he found the house empty.

He has since taken the matter to a traditional court in Murehwa, citing the involvement of both families and the fact that he paid bride price (lobola). The case is expected to be heard by a local headman.

"I could have escalated the matter further, but I chose a traditional court because of our four children and family considerations," he said, adding that he is prepared to accept the outcome.

Kambarami, however, maintains that she is not in a relationship with Jaramba and left the home out of fear.

"I could not stay after receiving threats. I feared for my life, and I am planning to seek a peace and protection order through the civil courts," she said.

Jaramba declined to comment on the allegations, stating he would present his position during the traditional court proceedings.

The case highlights growing recourse to traditional dispute resolution mechanisms in family matters, even as parallel legal remedies remain available through the formal court system.
