Several people were injured on Monday afternoon after a commuter omnibus lost control and overturned along the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road.
The accident occurred at the 35-kilometre peg, prompting a major emergency response involving multiple ambulances and police officers.
All injured passengers were transported to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
When a Zimpapers news crew arrived at the scene, police officers were busy clearing debris from the roadway to restore the smooth flow of traffic.
A police officer at the scene said preliminary indications suggested a mechanical failure may have caused the accident.
"Seven ambulances, one from Nyamandlovu and six from Bulawayo ferried the injured to hospital. It appears a ball joint broke and the driver struggled to control the vehicle, which was also towing a trailer," the officer said.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the incident.
