The Madlanga Commission has decided not to recall suspended Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya for further testimony over corruption allegations linked to the South African Police Service.
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels confirmed that evidence leaders no longer intend to call Sibiya back to give additional oral evidence.
Sibiya previously spent five days before the commission in February 2026, where he was questioned over allegations of corruption, interference in police operations and alleged links to criminal networks.
The accusations include claims that he attempted to disband the Political Killings Task Team and protect suspected underworld figures allegedly associated with the so-called “Big 5” cartel, including Vusimuzi Matlala, also known as "Cat."
Other testimony before the commission alleged that Sibiya maintained relationships with controversial figures such as Katiso Molefe and was connected to networks of influence and protection within SAPS.
Sibiya has denied all allegations, insisting he is the target of a coordinated effort to damage his reputation and remove him from office.
The commission's proceedings have intensified scrutiny over alleged corruption and criminal infiltration within senior levels of South Africa's police leadership.
