THE National University of Science and Technology (Nust) campus was transformed into a vibrant stage of elegance, confidence and celebration on Saturday as students showcased both beauty and intellect during the Mr and Miss Nust 2026 pageant.
Moreblessing Lelani Ndlovu was crowned Miss Nust 2026, while Milter Moyo and Jacqueline Thabile Dube finished as first and second runners-up respectively. In the male category, Anesu Jordan Moyo took the Mr Nust 2026 title, with Stanley Moyo and David Yakobe placing first and second runners-up.
In the Miss Curvy category, Anotidaishe Nyathi claimed the crown, with Bongokuhle Tatiana Ncube finishing as runner-up. The event also featured a symbolic handover ceremony where outgoing titleholders Nomqhele Sisasenkosi Nkomo and Takudzwa Chihambakwe passed on their crowns to the new winners.
The winners walked away with substantial prizes, with both Mr and Miss Nust receiving US$5 000 each, sponsored by Sakunda Holdings and businessman Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei. First runners-up received US$2 500 each, while second runners-up were awarded US$1 500 each. The Miss Curvy winner also received US$5 000.
In addition, both Miss Nust and Miss Curvy winners were awarded all-expenses-paid trips to Victoria Falls, while all contestants received US$200 participation allowances, courtesy of Ambassador Apphia Musavengana, inspired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa's mantra: "Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo" (a nation is built by its owners).
The event featured strong performances from various contestants, including Tanyarara Mhaka, Ivy Sikhosana, Busiso Mlilo, Takunda Kuloe Mushambi and Beloved Mironga, who impressed judges and the audience with confidence and creativity.
Nust SRC president Russell Mashinya praised the event, describing it as a showcase of excellence, unity and growing campus culture.
He said the university was producing future innovators and leaders aligned with Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 development goals.
"As NUST students, we're not just adapting to the future, we're designing it," he said. "We're the technocrats, scientists and innovators who'll drive Vision 2030 and shape Zimbabwe's industrial future."
The pageant continues to grow as a key highlight on the university calendar, blending entertainment, talent and leadership development within the student community.
Winners were also presented with Toyota Aqua vehicles, adding to the glamour of the night.
