THE price of blended petrol in Zimbabwe has increased by three cents to US$1.99 per litre, while diesel remains unchanged at US$1.95, according to the latest fuel price schedule issued by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).
The new prices took effect on September 9, with petrol rising from US$1.96 per litre recorded in July.
Diesel, however, remains at US$1.95 per litre after ZERA raised its price by eight cents in July from US$1.87.
In local currency, diesel is now capped at ZiG52.10 per litre, while E20 petrol is pegged at ZiG53.06.
The latest adjustment means motorists using petrol will face a marginal increase in fuel costs, while diesel users will continue paying the same price.
The unchanged diesel price is expected to provide some relief to transport operators, farmers and businesses that rely heavily on diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
Fuel price movements have a wider impact on the economy, with changes in pump prices potentially affecting transport charges, the cost of moving goods and overall business operating expenses.
ZERA periodically reviews petroleum prices in line with prevailing market conditions and other factors influencing the cost of fuel.
The latest review therefore leaves diesel prices unchanged, while motorists using blended petrol will pay slightly more at the pumps.
