Man dies in second suicide attempt

A Mucheke man died on Monday in an apparent suicide at his family's home, police and family sources said.

The deceased, identified by sources as Gift Nyoka, had reportedly experienced an earlier incident in which he harmed himself before receiving medical treatment. Family members said he later died following a second incident at the family home along Sisk Third Street in Mucheke.

Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said he was not aware of the reported case when contacted for comment.

According to a family source, the deceased's elder brother discovered him at the house on Monday morning and immediately alerted other relatives.

Family members reportedly attempted to assist him and rushed him to hospital, but he was pronounced dead before arrival.

Sources said Nyoka is expected to be buried today.

Police are expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
