Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Steven Mutamba's brother, Trynos Shonhai Mutamba, has died at the age of 56.
Trynos died in Harare on Thursday following an illness that had reportedly affected him for several months.
Family spokesperson Kudzi Mutamba confirmed the death, describing Trynos as a humble and God-fearing man who played an important role in supporting the family.
Mourners have gathered at Mutamba Village under Chief Nhema in Chipinda Communal Lands, Masvingo Province.
Masvingo Province ZRP spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa also confirmed the death, saying police were preparing to attend the burial.
"We are preparing to attend the burial and an official statement will be issued in due course," Dhewa said.
Trynos is expected to be buried at his rural home in Chipinda on Sunday.
His death has brought mourning to the Mutamba family and comes as the police service prepares to pay its respects to the family of its Commissioner-General.
