President Emmerson Mnangagwa received 588 cattle as a birthday gift during celebrations marking his 84th birthday and the inaugural Munhumutapa Day in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central Province, on Tuesday.
The cattle were donated by seven individuals, with each contributing 84 beasts in a symbolic gesture reflecting the President's age.
According to New Ziana, the donors included Mnangagwa's son, Collins Mnangagwa, businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei, businessman Wicknell Chivayo, businessman and politician Pedzai "Scott" Sakupwanya, Paul Tungwarara, Delish Nguwaya and an individual identified as AKA Snoop Dogg.
The donation was announced by Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Minister Tino Machakaire during the celebrations.
The event formed part of activities marking Mnangagwa's 84th birthday and coincided with the first-ever Munhumutapa Day, a new national commemoration celebrating Zimbabwe's pre-colonial heritage and the legacy associated with the Munhumutapa state.
The cattle gift added a major agricultural component to the birthday celebrations, with the 588 beasts representing the combined contributions of the seven donors.
