Two people were killed in Matabeleland South province while two others were seriously injured in separate road accidents on Saturday afternoon.
Acting provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Nkosilathi Sibanda said the first incident which involved a South African-registered vehicle occurred at the 312km peg along the Bulawayo-Beitbridge road.
He said the second incident which occurred in Matobo district involved a donkey-drawn scotchcart which claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy.
He identified the deceased persons as Andrew Ncube of Pumula in Bulawayo and Emmanuel Mahlaba of Kezi.
Their bodies have been taken to Beitbridge District Hospital and Matobo Hospital mortuaries respectively.
"Investigations reveal that a South African-registered Citroen Xsara Picasso was travelling from Bulawayo towards Beitbridge with three people on board including the now deceased Andrew Ncube.
Upon reaching the 312km peg, the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and lost control of the vehicle resulting in it veering off the road. The car overturned and landed on its roof killing Ncube on the spot. Two other passengers were thrown out of the vehicle and incurred serious body injuries," he said.
