Hubby's plans to marry second wife, woman commits suicide

A 39-year-old Chivhu woman set her bedroom on fire before committing suicide in protest over plans by her husband to marry a second wife.
Mashonaland East assistant police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza identified the deceased as Nyarai Mhundwa of Sunga Village under Chief Musarurwa.
It is understood that on December 12, Mhundwa's husband - Tendai Munjai (39) - told her that he intended to marry a second wife because their seven-year-old marriage had not been blessed with any children.
This did not go down well with Mhundwa and when her husband was not at home, Asst Insp Mwanza said, she splashed 3,5 litres of petrol on household goods in their bedroom before setting it ablaze.
She then drunk poison and died.
