Zanu PF Makoni South legislator Mandi Chimene has called on Zimbabweans to stand by President Robert Mugabe until he turns 100 years so that he serves another term.
"I urge this House to stand with the President, that we should support him in his 90's, and that he be given many more years even up to100 years, which Kamuzu Banda attained whilst in office," Chimene said.
"If his five year term passes, he has also another five year term because he is allowed two terms by our Constitution. We are going to stand by him because he is our father who brought us to where we are today."
Chimene said despite his advanced age, Mugabe had a lot of wisdom.
I am sorry to those who think that he is old because those are bad thoughts. The thoughts of an aged person are full of wisdom," she said.
"So I am pleading that, if we could only seek God that He gives him long life and two terms that are allowed by the Constitution of Zimbabwe."
Meanwhile, Chimene said the people from her constituency were waiting patiently to hear the outcome of those named in the salary scam.
"They are waiting hear them convicted so that people know that they are supporting their President when it comes to corruption, which is more than HIV/AIDS," she said.
