ZBC has responded to queries raised by some publications over the national broadcaster's full coverage of Dr Grace Mugabe's rallies, saying it has no apologies for carrying out its mandate.

ZBC General Manager and Editor-in-Chief, Mr Tazzen Mandizvidza said the national broadcaster is carrying out its mandate to give information to the nation in full so that people can make informed decisions.

He said the ZBC makes no apologies in carrying out its mandate and will continue to give similar attention to stories of national significance.

Mr Mandizvidza said the First Lady's entry into the political arena has been closely followed by news organisations in the country and the rallies that she has held have presented one major story which no media house can afford to ignore.

He said as a national broadcaster, ZBC's sole responsibility is to disseminate information to the public, adding that the hypocrisy by other media houses that see wrong when ZBC gives coverage to Dr Mugabe yet it is the story that they are also carrying is baffling.

Dr Mugabe has already held five rallies which drew capacity crowds in Chinhoyi, Gweru, Harare, Masvingo and Mutare.

This coming Monday, the First Lady is expected to address a rally in Gwanda before proceeding to Lupane the next day and finally Bulawayo on Wednesday.
