Local socialite Pokello Nare is set to return to limelight in South Africa as host at the inaugural Cape Town Zimbabwe Excellence Awards to be held at the Cape Town Convention Centre on April 4.
Organised by Shamstone Production and Entertainment together with Impress Clothing, the red carpet event seeks to acknowledge individuals and corporates that are flying the Zimbabwean flag high in Cape Town.
Cape Town-based businessman and director of the awards Julius Shamu said preparations for the event were at an advanced stage.
"Despite some challenges faced in South Africa, Zimbabweans have managed to not only demonstrate resilience but build success in their selected undertakings and ventures. The Cape Town awards seek to honour those individuals who have played positive roles in Cape Town and the Western Cape," he said.
He said the awards were also aimed at encouraging Zimbabwean nationals to continue thriving for success and being an inspiration to others.
"The awards will also provide an excellent opportunity for networking with the community of Cape Town. The winners will be chosen by a panel of experts drawn from different sectors of business, academia and social spheres," said Shamu.
The organisers are still inviting sponsors to contribute in making the event bigger and better
"Some of our sponsors include Cutting Edge Tents, newly launched Mama Money Transfer, Moonlight Funeral Services and Impress Clothing," he said.
The awards will honour successful individuals in the business sector, sports personalities, community leaders and news makers.
"Nominees should be Zimbabwean and reside in Cape Town. There is no restriction on age or race," said Shamu.
The event will also be marked by an array of entertainers, namely DJ Bashmouth, DJ Wity Morgan Stich and DJ Flex.
Zimbabwe traditional group Pangea will also perform together with Fatha B and dancehall musician Swit Beey.
The show is complete with red carpet interviews that will be hosted by Paida Mazara and Connie Bear.
