The Zanu-PF Masvingo provincial leadership has recommended the expulsion of 10 party bigwigs as well as the suspension of other members who were accused of aligning themselves to the Joice Mujuru cabal which sought to illegally assume power through the assassination the head of state, President Robert Mugabe.
This came up at a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting whose agenda included the recent visit by Vice President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the restructuring process of cells and branches and the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, among other issues.
The meeting took place at Victoria junior school.
In the meeting tampers flared as some of the expelled and suspended members sought to justify their alleged alignment to the now defunct Mujuru camp.
According to the Zanu-PF Provincial Chairperson for Masvingo, Paradzai Chakona, those recommended for expulsion from the party included Dzikamai Mavhaire, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, Calisto Gwanetsa, Paul Chimedza, Claudious Makova, Trynos Huruva, Oliver Huruva, Shylet Uyoyo, Josh Matakanure and one, Mujakachi.
The recommendations for the expulsions and suspensions came from the party districts.
However, Zaka District had to be ejected out of the meeting following dissenting voices on who was to be expelled or suspended.
The Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial Disciplinary Committee is set to look at the merits and demerits of each case and further transmit the final list to the party's National Disciplinary Committee.
