Avenging spirit threatens to wipe family

DRAMA broke-out at Acting Chief Zimunya's court recently when a man, Tonderai Nikisi, out of the blue stormed the traditional court like a mad man after an avenging spirit of his departed brother manifested through him.
The court was brought to a halt momentarily as all attention drifted towards the young man being chased after by his relatives in real life macabre drama.
He dashed so fast that even Jamaica's six-time Olympic champion and world's fastest sprinter, Usain Bolt, could have struggled to catch him.
When he was eventually subdued, the chief's aides immediately knew it was a manifestation and called-out the avenging spirit to speak-out.
"I have come out because I am troubled. I was killed my Chief and after they killed me they raised me from the dead and used me for their rituals. It is your wives Shupai. (Pointing at the perpetrators in court)
"Your wives keep a clay pot with a red cloth tied round it under the bed. Do you know that?" said the avenging spirit.
The matter which was brought before Acting Chief Zimunya's court was fingering Shupai Nikisi's wives, Rosemary and Elizabeth as witches.
It is alleged that the two were behind the deaths of two family members and the first revelations started last year in January when the avenging spirit of Kuziva Nikisi started manifesting.
It manifested in one of Shupai's late young brother's children, a 16-year-old girl.
The avenging spirit has apparently been manifesting in different children seeking appeasement.
The avenging spirit threatened to show its wrath and wipe out Shupai's family if there was no appeasement.
"What sort of a family head are you Shupai? You are letting your women run this family"?
"If I really get mad I will finish you all," said the avenging spirit.
Rosemary denied all accusations and said she was the one who actually took up the matter with Headman Simudzai last year for her name to be cleared.
"I reported the matter to Headman Simudzai last year after being fingered as a witch following the manifestations.
"The headman advised us to consult a traditional healer and we went to one in Chakohwa.
"There I was told I was not a witch, but had a family curse cast on me (bvuri rechikwambo)," said Rosemary.
An old, frail Shupai who seemed unperturbed shocked the entire court by responding that he did not care about the threats of the avenging spirit.
"Kana kuri kupera ngatipere. If we are to be wiped out then so be it," responded Shupai to the indignation of the court.
Chief Zimunya said there was need for the family to consult further.
He said the three affected houses in the Nikisi family should raise $150 each and $60 for the two aides that would escort them to a traditional healer.
The matter was adjourned to May 18 to allow the affected parties to consult a traditional healer.
Chief Zimunya also cautioned Shupai to be more considerate about his family affairs as the head of the Nikisi family.
He said his narrow-mindedness was uncalled for unless he had something to hide with his two wives.
