A student teacher at Wise Owl Primary School in Marondera was recently arrested for fondling nine female pupils during a music lesson.
Tinotenda Mawoyo (24), who is studying at Midlands State University, was charged with indecent assault when he appeared before Marondera magistrate Mr Tendai Mushini last Saturday.
He was remanded in custody to June 26.
Two of the pupils are aged 12 and the rest six are aged 11.
It is alleged that on June 12 at around 4pm Mawoyo was conducting music lessons at the school's music gallery where he was teaching the pupils how to play instruments.
Mawoyo, it is alleged, took advantage that some of the pupils were playing instruments in the same gallery and started fondling the breasts, buttocks and waists of the pupils on the pretext that he was teaching them how to play the instruments.
On that same day, the pupils reported the matter to one of the schoolteachers before proceeding to the owner of the school only identified as Mr Makirimani.
The matter was then reported at Marondera Rural Police Station who attended the scene leading to Mawoyo's arrest.
