MDC President Professor Welshman Ncube says Zanu-PF is clueless on how to resuscitate the comatose economy and there will be no economic revival as long as the status quo remains unchanged.

Ncube said this Sunday while addressing the Matabeleland South provincial council in Gwanda.

He said Zimbabwe is on national paralysis and on a road to nowhere except for "more suffering under the leadership of the tired, clueless and out of depth Robert Mugabe and the rest of the Zanu-PF gang."

Ncube's attack comes after a recent Supreme Court judgement triggered massive job cuts, with thousands losing their jobs in a week.

Instead of sorting the economic mess the country finds itself in trouble and Ncube said the ruling party was caught up in internal party politics.

"It is clear that the Zanu-PF regime is clueless on how to get the Zimbabwe economy back on track. Right now over 6 000 people just lost their jobs en masse within a week following the Supreme Court judgement on termination of employment without notice and the government has no clue on what to do and how to fix the problem.

"You can bet your last rand that once they get round to acting they will, as usual, get it horribly wrong. When they meet instead of discussing ways of fixing the country's problems, all they ever do is fire each other. They seem permanently caught up in a time warp of factional and succession bloodletting," said Ncube.

President Mugabe's frequent foreign trips have been heavily criticised by opposition parties, saying the nonagenarian leader was not paying attention to the country's woes.

"Zimbabwe has been on autopilot to nowhere for a long time now. Let us not fool ourselves into thinking that there will be any economic turnaround when Zanu-PF is still in power," Ncube said.

He also criticised the brand of politics in the country which has been fixated with removing Mugabe from power.

"The tragedy of our current politics in Zimbabwe is that it lacks ideology, principle and vision and this is why we are now being told daily by all and sundry that our one and only purpose is to remove Mugabe from power and in this regard we must unite even with those who still profess loyalty to Zanu-PF even after being jettisoned from it. Very few are interested in discussing or engaging on issues of ideology or policy or values and principles or the plans which must guide us in the post Mugabe Zimbabwe," said Ncube.

"Right now all serious minded democrats should be focused on what it is we will do to rebuild Zimbabwe after Mugabe is gone," he added.

The party is on a country wide tour, meeting with provincial structures. Similar meetings have already been held in Harare, Bulawayo and Chitungwiza.
