The government has extended to October 31 the deadline for all unregistered motor vehicles in the country to ensure they regularise their vehicles.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Dr Joram Gumbo said owners of un-registered vehicles have been given another month to abide with the directive.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Dr Joram Gumbo told the ZBC News that a month-long grace period has been granted to motorists so that they have ample time to regularise their vehicle status some of which have gone for more than two years without paying their statutory obligations.

Government recently announced that it would impound and penalise owners of motor vehicles which have gone unregistered with ZINARA for the last two years.

The parent transport ministry is mulling heavy charges against the owners of such vehicles.
