A MAN from Bulawayo's Nkulumane Suburb allegedly attempted to sodomise his neighbour's nine-year-old son after inviting him to his house to play video games.

Prince Eddie Ngwenya (25) allegedly threatened to kill the minor if he told anyone about the sex attack.

He appeared before Western Commonage Magistrate Ms Tancy Dube facing indecent assault charges and was remanded to September 7 on $100 bail. The boy, whose name has been withheld for ethical reasons, is a grade Six pupil at Queen Elizabeth Primary School.

The pupil revealed the abuse, which occurred in 2014, to his father on Monday.

Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza said that on a date the complainant cannot remember but between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014,

Ngwenya allegedly inserted his manhood between the minor's thighs after luring him to his house to play video games on a PlayStation.

Mr Mageza said: "On a day that the complainant cannot remember but in 2014 and during the day, Ngwenya called the complainant to his place to play video games. "Upon arrival, he ordered the complainant to enter his bedroom and remove his clothes. He told him to lie on the bed on his side.

The accused also removed his clothes, lay beside the complainant and inserted his manhood between the complainant's thighs".

Ngwenya allegedly asked the minor to dress up after the incident and threatened him with death and a beating if he ever told anyone about the act before escorting him to his home.

The court heard that on another day, Ngwenya allegedly called the complainant to his residence for PlayStation games.

"The complainant went to Ngwenya's home and entered his bedroom. He was again ordered to strip off before the accused also removed his clothes.

"Again, he stripped the minor and inserted his manhood between the boy's thighs," said Mr Mageza.

The matter came to light when the complainant told his father about the incident on August 22 this year. His father had asked him about the incident after hearing rumours that Ngwenya had sexually abused his son.

The matter was then reported to the police leading to Ngwenya's arrest.
