CAPS United striker Evans Gwekwerere has finally got a facelift!
He can now smile thanks to a recent investment in dentures.
The bustling forward revealed to B- Metro that he bought R14 000 worth of artificial teeth in South Africa to replace his lower missing ones.
"I bought the artificial teeth for R14 000 in South Africa. I had to replace the lower missing ones. They were expensive but I had no option," said Gwekwerere who also cleared the air on the way he was brought up.
The Caps striker made his name at Dynamos, before moving to Moroka Swallows and Jomo Cosmos in South Africa.
Stories had been doing rounds that Gwekwerere was a street kid in Harare before he began a career in football.
"I have heard the rumour to the fact that I was once a street kid. I was not a street kid. I was brought up by my parents in Mbare," he said.
Asked on what prompted him to move from DeMbare to CAPS United and how have the supporters from both clubs have treated him after the move the forward said:
"I am a professional player and I do not listen to what the supporters say but I am glad to the warm welcome I got from the CAPS United supporters when I joined the club. This is football and just like life you have to move on and what most supporters don't know is that this is now a business."
"As a player who earn a living from football, I have to make good business decisions when I'm still in my prime. I look after my family through football and if things are not working out at the club I play for I have to look for other alternatives."
"Another thing that also prompted me to move to CAPS United was to enhance my career by playing for two of the biggest clubs in the country. It's another achievement for me," he said.
Gwekwerere also had a stint at South Africa's First Division side FC AK after long-stretching differences over money to join fellow Inland Stream campaigners Jomo Cosmos in 2009.
The former Moroka Swallows forward chose to terminate his contract with FC AK by mutual consent at the end of 2008 after going for three months without pay.
After FC AK, Gwekwerere signed on a two-and-a-half year contract with Ezenkosi who were seeking to solve their goal-scoring problems in their bid to make a prompt return to the Absa Premiership.
In his short stay with FC AK, who train in Roodepoort and play their home matches at Eldorado Park Stadium, Gwekwerere played nine out of the 12 League games scoring twice.
