Statement by Save the Soul of Africa upon the Bujumbura Attack in Burundi

Save the Soul of Africa sent heartfelt condolences to the people of Burundi, and especially those who have lost loved ones and cronies in the Bujumbura attack, on Saturday December 12 ,where 87 lives has been lost. We condemned the unwarranted attacks on the helpless people and residents of Burundi and urgently urged the African Union (AU) , Southern African Development Community (SADC) and its security forces to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure justice is done.
It is a time of great pain and sorrow for all Burundians as the innocent people brutally lose their lives. As a Save the Soul of Africa share in the trauma of our brothers and sisters who have lost their close relatives and the loved ones during the Bujumbura attack. We are in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been injured in this terrible tragedy and pray that the Almighty God grants them a quick recovery.
The challenge of Burundi is not unique to Africa. We must not bit about the bush we really want to bring about Social, Political and Economic justice and Emancipation of our fellow Africans and the continent.
Today, in Burundi people are brutally butchering each other ever since their president Pierre Nkurunziza refused to relinquish power after he completed his constitutionally-mandated two terms.
He justified his decision by saying that his first term did not count, as he was chosen by the legislature and not through a nationwide presidential election.
We are having leaders who have uncontrollable love for power and money like Peirre Nkurunziza, and Jacob Zuma. They are obsessed with looting and stealing from the poor. Most of our Heads of State are rich more than the countries they our leading. Some of them are handled by the West
The Burundian situation has nothing to do with tribalism, but someone obsessed with power. Who want to rule the people against their will and wish. We need interim government in Burundi. AU is toothless and useless thus why they are not intervening upon this grave status quo.
We also need African criminal court to dealt with this heartless leaders. We can't have President's for life. Who told some people that they are the only ones annoited to lead and be President's forever. We need to take African challenges head on.
Save the Soul of Africa will stand hand-in-hand with the folks of Burundi against the scourge of attack and in their efforts to bring communities together. This much is clear: the future of Burundi will not be defined by violence and terror; it will be shaped by young vibrant people of like those at Burundi structures – by their talents, their hopes, and their achievements
At this difficult epoch, the Burundian mortals should know they have an unwavering pillar in the Save the Soul of Africa.
May Almighty God ,hears the cries of Africa and rescue her!
