Unfolding and uncertain future with Mnangagwa in power

04 Jan 2018 at 19:38hrs | Views
Mnangagwa has been Mugabe's confidante and close security guard, since the days of the liberation struggle. To put this into perspective, Mnangagwa has been part and parcel of Mugabe's political journey, since they first met in detention in 1964. He has been described by many as Mugabe's chief enforcer, a ruthless and cunning individual, with a trail of destruction behind him. The only reason for the fallout was the entry Gucci Grace Mugabe into the political equation. Her unrestrained approach to power saw her trying to elbow out all perceived enemies, resulting in poisoned his ice-cream. Had Mnangagwa not been fired, it is beyond dispute that he still be on Mugabe side. His survival to this day can be attributable to his close ties military and the security sector, both of which have been under his command for a period stemming a considerable period of time.

The latest developments in Zimbabwe have finally sealed the notion of ever holding free and fair elections in 2018 and beyond. We all heard unconstitutional declaration by senior military personal, that they will not be ruled by anyone without war or liberation credentials.

For 37 years Zanu-PF has survived on, threats, killings, lootings, corruption that has reached the high heavens. In 2008 elections, the most notorious was a campaign of massive violence, intimidation, beating opponents, murdering and disappearance of people e.g. Itai Dzamara. Mr Mnangagwa he was machinery of rigging election following the humiliating defeat in presidential election. In same year 2008 Mnangagwa was giving orders in hospitals all opponents supporters who were victims of violence must not be treated. Mnangagwa ensured the security decimated all the political opposition and society. He already stated nobody will rule except Zanu-PF. Mnangagwa lost his seat in the 2000 & 2005 elections but Mugabe appointed him to an unelected seat in parliament.

Mnangagwa is desperately trying to wood winking the international community, by promising to restore the rule of law. However, these promises did not leave to see another day, as we saw how he is treating his former colleagues who are now hunted like wild animals.". We know for a fact Zimbabwe is economically bankrupt and owes the IMF, World bank, UN and other international organisations. He is trying to score brown points, to win freedom and favours so that outstanding charges will be dropped and travelling ban will lifted. Even ex-senior members of Zanu-PF are doubtful about Mnangagwa credibility whom have worked with him for years. They is no reason or guarantee to believe that things will change this time around, considering Zanu-PF history of using terror as an election tool to cow opponents.
