'Abednico Ncube is a Disgrace'

18 Mar 2015 at 20:11hrs | Views

Matabeleland has a very serious leadership deficiency. We still suffer from the monarchist approach to life where we look upon an individual to lead us to the promised land (From Mzilikazi to Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo) The Trouble with that approach is we soon fall prey to selfish and corrupt leaders who are a far cry from our yesteryear leaders who were nation builders .

One recalls with sadness the comments by Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Eunice Sandi Moyo when she claimed she was no tribalist when asked about non Ndebele speakers teaching early primary school classes. Tribalist my foot! Sydney Malunga or Welshmen Mabhena Would have said something better!

The Maleme debacle leaves one with a sickening feeling in the stomach, where was Abednico Ncube in all this madness? In his capacity as the Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs Minister he surely must have seen or even signed the offer letter to Mashingaidze. What on earth was he thinking? The fact that he failed to see that the value of over 800 families' livelihood far outweighs pleasing a greedy individual brings to question his sanity and suitability for that office.

Meanwhile a Minister who might be considered as somewhat of a dimwit in Masvingo ( after dancing herself to a stupor and collapsing in the recent Zanu Pf Congress one has to be forgiven for viewing her in that light!) proved much more useful that Mr Ncube. Shuvai Mahofa Stopped the acquisition of a farm in Masvingo because of its economic, social and strategic importance to Masvingo. To her the choice was simple; the needs of the many outweigh the greed of one.

Probably The Most Disturbing thought is that all other fellow tribesmen who are high up the hierarchy were busy sipping tea and laughing hearty laughs in Harare to please their masters. Where were you Jonathan Moyo,Orbert Mpofu, Cain Mathema etc ? A phone call to Mr Ncube from fellow Zanu Pf Matebele would have been enough to stop this madness.

The People of Maleme eventually taught us a valuable lesson. You might be Zanu Pf, MDC-T ,Zapu or MDC, but first and foremost you are a Matabeleland Native. The Problems that confront us are the same. You do not foresake your home to please your Masters. If Mugabe asks to sleep with your wife will you agree Minister Ncube? Your Motherland is your sacred inheritance which you must preserve and pass on to your children. This insanity of political patronage will leave Matabeleland ravaged by lost Identity and Pride all sold for thirty pieces of silver by our brainless leadership.
