Obert Gutu preaches to Apostle Guti
17 May 2015 at 05:48hrs | Views
Today's sermon comes from Romans 13 vs 1 and Exodus 22 vs 28. The MDC-T better be warned.
We all agree, Morgan Tsvangirai's party has lots of weaknesses but when the party thinks it's much wiser than God, that leaves this Bishop with no option but to remove the gloves.
Tsvangirai's party actually thinks they know the Holy Book much more than the internationally-acclaimed Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng, much more than United Family International church founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and much more than Prophet Healing and Deliverance Ministries' Prophet Walter Magaya.
Forgive me dear reader, Luke 4 vs 8 is upon me. It reads: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free."
God help the MDC-T, for they do not know! They are your people! Please God, set them free! Set the MDC-T captives free!
But hold on dear reader - why is your usually mellow Bishop sounding so combative and in a bad mood? Hey, Bishop, take it easy, you may say! But sorry folks, not today.
You see, last week the MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu said something really stupid and foolish. Pardon the language but then it's this mood I am in. The adrenalin is pumping too much because Gutu tried to silence another man of God, Apostle Ezekiel Guti, the founder of Zaoga.
Let me give a brief background. During his church's 55th anniversary last week, Apostle Guti was quoted saying: "People think what they think, so long as a man stays healthy, he can do it. The president (President Mugabe) can continue so long as he can feel that he can do it and he has strength to do so."
Just by exercising his freedom of speech, according to the MDC-T which claims to fight for the rights of the people, Apostle Guti committed a crime. Just because he is a church leader, Apostle Guti lost his right to free speech and he has no right to speak his mind. What nonsense! What rubbish!
After the speech by Apostle Guti, the MDC-T spokesperson Gutu responded saying: "It is misdirected for a religious leader to argue that advanced age does not prevent anyone from carrying out the honours and duty of running a country. As the MDC, we maintain that Robert Mugabe is too old to lead Zimbabwe...
"We would like to urge leaders of religious groups to pray for Zimbabwe and avoid being partisan . . . If they take sides they risk discrediting themselves . . .
"We respect Guti as a religious leader and we would be very happy if he confines his activities and comments to his religious duties and to preaching the word of God."
I still can't believe this chap really said this hogwash. What education does this Gutu person have? Is he okay upstairs or it's all like cabbages of the River Nile?
Apostle Guti has the right to express his views on any issue including politics. By saying President Mugabe can continue leading the country as long as he is fit and healthy there is nowhere Apostle Guti is taking any sides. Gutu can't lecture Apostle Guti about being discredited because the man of God has a church that has a huge following across the world while the MDC-T has found the political going tough and is hiding behind boycotts to shield itself from being embarrassed by Zanu-PF at the polls.
Gutu says Apostle Guti should confine his activities and comments to his religious duties, but even the Bible gives religious leaders the go ahead to talk politics. Maybe Gutu is not a believer and has never come across a Bible. But then that's not our problem. The man should keep his ignorance at his house. Only his wife should suffer his folly because she is there by choice, or is she?
Romans 13 vs 1 says: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God. The powers that be are ordained of God."
Exodus 22 vs 28 is even more clearer in case Gutu has challenges grasping simple stuff. It says: "You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people."
There it is poor Obert Gutu. Apostle Guti was preaching to his congregates, just like I am preaching to my congregates now, and so you can't silence us.
In case you may think I am just being pompous for nothing, let me take you back in time a bit.
In March this year, Prophet Magaya spoke openly about politics and he even went on to say he didn't care how people were to interpret his message.
"Basically, our message was to ask God to bless the country including its leadership for Kings are installed not by their own wisdom but the will of God. It is the mandate of all well-meaning men of God to pray for the country's leaders."
Hezvoko! Bwaaa from Prophet Magaya!
If Gutu thinks Prophet Magaya is too new to understand the Bible, well let me enlighten him more.
Prophet Boateng who is Prophet Makandiwa's spiritual father recently said: "As long as President Mugabe is the leader of Zimbabwe, Prophet Makandiwa has a duty to respect him. It is the duty of every Christian to respect political leaders according to what the Bible says. Our duty is to respect authority."
Need I say more poor Obert Gutu?
Maybe history escaped Obert Gutu but a quick check will show him that religion and politics have been inseparable since time immemorial.
The church has always played an important role in politics and that's not about to stop just because Obert Gutu is ignorant or just because the MDC-T has no policy to sell to the people.
We the man of God, will not be silenced by political opportunists like Obert Gutu who if it wasn't for Tsvangirai's benevolence would be struggling nonentities.
The MDC-T loves America and I know Gutu loves Washington a lot. Maybe an example from the land of his wish would help in creating some understanding.
I won't talk about the famous Al Smith dinner that is organised by the Archdiocese of New York whose main purpose is to encourage all Americans, mainly politicians to "step back from the intensity and meanness of politics." This dinner serves to show the closeness between the church and politics.
Maybe the mission statement of the online journal, Religion and Politics which is a project of the John C. Danforth Centre on Religion and Politics at Washington University in St. Louis is easier to understand.
Part of the mission statement reads: ". . . that for better and for worse, religion and politics converge, clash and shape public life . . ."
So even the masters behind the puppets know the close links between the church and politics and little Gutu should just shut up! Who is he to go against the practice of his masters?
I will conclude this sermon by quoting two more verses.
Ephesians 4:18 says: "They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart."
On the other end, Hosea 4:6 says: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children."
It's never too late before The Lord Gutu! You can't stay darkened forever! Take the wise words from us the men of God! Surely, all these prophets can't be mad! This Bishop can't be mad! Come son, for the Kingdom of Heaven is all yours!
Bishop is out!
