'Mugabe on the run'
23 May 2015 at 11:19hrs | Views
Mugabe now practically lives abroad, as if wishing he could run away. Cabinet meetings to discuss vital matters of state are put on hold while he burns through what little money the exchequer can muster.
And you know there is absolutely nothing going on in government, when the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation's lead news item is Mugabe's supposed grand welcome upon his arrival in West Africa. ZBC reported that ‘the welcome and reception received on his recent visit to Mali is clear demonstration that he indeed is a revered and iconic statesman in Africa.'
When actual icons - such as Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa - are cheered all over the world, it is hardly news. It is normal, like sunrise and sunset, or a hump on a camel. The fact that ZBC makes a big deal of this 'warm welcome' raises doubts.
