The truth: Zimbabwe politics

23 Oct 2016 at 06:20hrs | Views
The political disposition for political power, the politics of personalities intertwined with nepotism and other social devices right across the political spectrum in Zimbabwe has produced a debilitating effect to the electorate that feels the top down decision making , undemocratic in nature is against its intrinsic decency there by reverting to coiled disenchantment and repulsion.

The persistent political wrangles amongst various political parties that seem lacking in terms of clear economic and political policy frameworks meant to salvage or rather redeem the country's economic woes from further degenerating has transcended into abyss and miseries of alarming proportions in which our economy has been curtailed to a vending status making it difficult if not impossible for responsible local authorities to collect revenues that sustain Government revenue profiles that are meant to speed up infrastructural developments and key service deliveries .

This is no surprise that the youths who happen to be a linchpin and a launch pad in any progressive society are left out in the cold in crucial national developmental issues that require both their innate intrinsic and extrinsic motivation at their youthful stage leaving them without alternatives but to view violence as a panacea to social ills a thing unenviable of course and need urgent redress . This can only happen through Creation of employment a Government responsibility that allows youths to be positively involved in decision making processes through well defined succession programmes both in Government and private sector organizations.

It is a clarion call to all political parties to engage in self introspection in their political manoeuvres to establish a desirable political trajectory that defines them as servants of the people answerable to their concerns to address bread and butter issues as they perform their daily responsibities entrenched on competencies that are effectual and beneficial to the electorate(the nation), accountability being at the helm and demagogic grandstanding weeded out as this could lead to fossilisation akin to medieval scenarios.

All this points to the fact that a paradigm shift kind of culture has to be cultivated in all Government sectors and the private sector to allow social discourses inclusive in every sense of the term in which the entire society should be accorded the opportunity to make invaluable contributions to the development of the country without fear.

I strongly believe it would be folly if not impossible to gun down the fact that "one man's philosophy is another man's nonsense" which is a concept based on individual differences an artistic natural tendency that needs embracing and forging ahead.. ..equally the same diametrically opposed political views should be viewed as the best ingredient in progressive politics rather than a nemesis one ( ideological pluralism is a spice of life as it has variety and diversity).

To my best knowledge "ignorance" has never been associated with success as more often than not it metastasizes and destroys the core values of humanity as it manifest itself in violence and loss of life hence denying civility to prevail.

My advice to all political parties and stakeholders is that, Zimbabwe is our country and we have to face up to the reality that the country we love so much and the fact that we lost many lives during the liberation struggle has become an inventory of chaos and sadness as political storms have become a common relentless feature as the entire country is swept away to cataclysmic dungeons in which despair and anxiety have become a common trending denominator.

It would be wise at this juncture that intuitive thinking prevails as the precursor to our political journey as a country. Honestly it would be naive for politicians to massage both social and economic outlook of the country by making positive projections to the wider world rather it would be better to succumb to contrition and blossom with the politics of engagement that seeks to redeem the economic decline through constructive open debates that will mutate into invaluable contributions by citizenry.

I am apolitical and a believer of conventional wisdom that should feed into our political system to revitalize it and replenish it with a bill of health and pragmatism.

Interestingly the relationship between the electorate and the Members of Parliament together with those in leadership corridors should be quid pro quo based which brings us to a business culture in which either side is not prepared to lose.

What appears to be an inevitability is Zimbabweans now if not yesterday to make frantic attempts to exorcise the myopic inward looking tendencies of ourselves instead we should strive to gravitate towards achieving a two pronged approach with inward and outward looking dimensional focus that defines who we are and our capabilities as a nation.

It is now that as a nation we should be involved in evidence based approaches that require extensive research that informs practice in the areas such as policy formulation, human resources development, fiscal policy formulation and controls, manufacturing and production taking into account "quality standard attributes" ,foreign policy and diplomacy ,the provision of goods and services, the key operational elements that are a driving force to succeses of any country that exists under the sun.

Successful leadership is one that is installed on perceptual plurality and finds exhilaration in leading and being led.. embracing democratic principles in which all creatures great or small have a stake in the living process and transparency being the antidote.
