Is Zimra a Fair, Just and Socially Responsible company?

29 May 2015 at 16:10hrs | Views
Dear Editor,

Please help me to draw the public's attention to what I believe is an unjust, unfair, unequal and socially irresponsible situation prevailing at Zimra Plumtree. Does Zimra follow its Motto of Integrity, Transparency and Fairness when it comes to employment equity at its higher levels?

Below is a list of the Zimra leadership right from Harare down to Plumtree:

1.    Mr. G. T. Pasi - Commissioner General
2.    Mr. M. Govha - Regional Manager (Mat South?)
3.    Mr. L. C. Samhembere - Station Manager (Plumtree)
4.    Mr Kodogo Isdore - Accounts Supervisor (Plumtree)
5.    Mrs M. Kuture - Supervisor, Commercial Office (Plumtree)
6.    Mrs I. Rwatida - Private Imports Supervisor (Plumtree)
7.    Mrs I. Chabva - Private Imports Supervisor (Plumtree)

As you are probably aware, Editor, Plumtree is in Mat South. Could it be asking for too much if one demanded an explanation why the whole leadership structure at Zimra Plumtree (all the way from Harare) is SHONA? Surely, if this same structure was somewhere in Mashonaland, Manicaland or Masvingo, there wouldn't be a need to question it.

Or is the leadership structure in those provinces made up of Bakalanga, BaSotho, AmaXhosa, Vhavenda?

Can Zimra really walk tall and claim that it never found anyone, I mean, ANYONE, from Mat South, who could at least be a STATION MANAGER, ACCOUNTS SUPERVISOR, COMMERCIAL OFFICE SUPERVISOR? Can Zimra leadership really stand up and walk tall, claiming to lead a just, fair and socially responsible company? Do the words employment equity and employee diversity exist in the Zima HR lexicon? Well, I don't know if they can respond, but at least let the public be the judge.

Ndaboka.
