Caps United have missed the Fifa cut off date to sign Kaizer Chiefs defender, Lincoln Zvasiya.
According to SoccerLaduma, Zvasiya had been training with the Harare giants as he was trying to get his football career back on track, following the collapse of his loan deal from Chiefs to Greek club, OFI Crete.
Prior to training with Caps, Zvasiya tried his luck at Harare City but they decided against signing him.
Caps manager, Luis Maio, said his club was interested in signing Zvasiya, but the deal collapsed after they failed to meet Fifa's cut off date of March 25.
"We were very keen to sign the player. We have been discussing, but by the time we moved to try and sign the player, we realised it was already late," said Maio.
"We got in touch with Kaizer Chiefs and they told us it was no longer possible to issue a clearance for the player because the Fifa cut-off date for the transfer of players had passed. Zifa told us it was no longer possible to have the player issued with an international clearance as the deadline had already been missed," added Maio.
Zvasiya still has a running contracted with Chiefs, but cannot play for Amakhosi this season because they have already exhausted their foreign quota.
