PREMIER Soccer League (PSL) debutants Chiredzi FC gaffer Moses "Bambo" Chunga has promised fireworks when his side locks horns with FC Platinum in a league match set for Chishamiso Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking from his base over the phone, Bambo was upbeat ahead of his team's debut match and warned his opponents to brace for a tough match.
"Firstly, we are still waiting for PSL to confirm whether the games are starting this week. We are however, prepared for the match and look forward to giving our opponents a good run for their money," he said.
Bambo who helped the team gain promotion last season after winning the Eastern Region Division One Soccer League said he is in the top flight to compete for honours and those who will take the team for granted will only do it at their own peril.
"I want to show the footballing family that, we are not in the PSL to make numbers. We will fight for everything and our aim is not to survive the chop at the end of the season but to win medals. I do have a reputation to protect as one of the soccer legends in the country.
My team is raring to go," said Chunga.
He added; "We have been training since January and I have played a couple of friendlies, something that has helped me try and come up with best combinations. We are now more than ready for the start of the season and I promise that Chiredzi will be a team to beat this season regardless of the fact that we are in our maiden year in the top flight league," he said.
Chiredzi FC, who are yet to secure sponsorship played Mutare's Buffaloes away in Mutare in a friendly match and lost the match 1-3 before they beat arch rivals, Triangle 2-1 at Gibbo Stadium.
The team has relatively young players like what Bambo used to have at his Kidznet project.
Bambo has also roped in former Dynamos, Gunners and FC Platinum striker Norman Maroto apparently to blend experience with youth.
