HARARE - Zimbabwe's economic outlook is set to strengthen, with engineers and entrepreneurs expressing confidence that innovation‑driven policies will accelerate growth and support the country's long‑term development goals.

Speaking during a media familiarisation tour of the Josm Electrical Private Limited complex, Engineer Blessing Madanyaya praised the government for prioritising innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.

"We're seeing a new wave of optimism in the business community, specifically innovation taking place among various entrepreneurs. The establishment of our business complex is driven by the quest to show the world that entrepreneurs have a duty to complement innovation policy," Madanyaya said.

He added that the government's focus on technology‑based development was essential for diversifying the economy and creating employment.

"The government's focus on innovation and technology is exactly what Zimbabwe needs to diversify its economy and create jobs. We have therefore created employment for various youths as a means to complement empowerment initiatives by government, as well as our efforts to ensure progress under the second phase of the National Development Strategy (NDS2)," he said.

Madanyaya, a respected engineer and entrepreneur, highlighted initiatives such as the Zimbabwe Innovation Challenge and the government's commitment to renewable energy as key drivers of future growth.

"These efforts will not only boost economic growth but also position Zimbabwe as a hub for innovation in the region," he said.

The private sector is also responding positively, with increased investment in tech start‑ups, renewable energy projects and manufacturing ventures.

"We're confident that with the right policies and support, Zimbabwe can achieve sustainable economic growth and improve livelihoods," Madanyaya said.

Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 aims to transform the country into an upper‑middle‑income economy, and experts say the innovation‑centred approach is a step in the right direction.
