Urban grooves artist Alishias Musimbe, affectionately known in the music circles as "Maskiri" has released a 15-track album titled Recovery.
The self-styled king of Zimbabwean hip hop launched his 6th album in Harare on Thursday night at an event that was graced by fellow musicians such as Joe Hesh Mfesh, Tererai Mugwadi, Mzimba, Arnold Gara, Nutty G, Centre Part, Mr Knox and music fans.
The album Recovery has 15-tracks among them Daira, Miss Officer, Tsotsi, Ndakawanikwa, NaMwari, Amai Vake and Party Yamudhara.
In some of the tracks, Maskiri collaborated with fellow urban groovers such as Trevor Dongo, XQ, Tererai Mugwadi, Leonard Mapfumo, Pauline, Shinso, Knox, Chagwa and Ngoni Kambarami.
One of the tracks "NaMwari" which Maskiri collaborated with Nutty G, Tererai, Pauline and Shinso is topping the charts on Power FM.
The crowd also fell in love with the song.
Some of the artists present hailed Maskiri for being a pioneer of the urban grooves genre and auctioned his CD for US$120.
Maskiri worked with some of the finest producers in the industry who include Macdonald Chidavaenzi, Sani Makalima, Russo and South African-based producer, Gt Beats.
Maskiri's manager Ishmael Chibvunye urged artists to always produce good quality music and took a swipe at those who pirate music.
"A journey of a 1000 miles begin with one step, Maskiri made a step not only just a step, but a decision that he is going to pursue music as a career," said Chibvunye.
Knox Guni's manager, South African-based Howard, hailed Zimbabwe's 75 percent local content policy as the best thing a government can do for its artists.
"Let us support our local music, yes we appreciate the Beyoncés, Chris Browns but if we shun our own who is going to support them? Please let us support our own," Howard said.
Maskiri came into the limelight at the start of the new millennium singing under the banner Phathood Entertainment with Munetsi, Mr Cee and the late Action Jackson with the track Ghetto stories.
Some of the albums he has released are Muviri Wese, Blue Movie, Tapinda Tapinda, Ndotown Yacho and New Look.
