Police in Letsitele, Limpopo, have launched a manhunt for seven unknown suspects following a violent house robbery and kidnapping incident at Rwanda Village in the Mopani District.
According to the South African Police Service, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 6 June 2026, when a 35‑year‑old woman was allegedly confronted in her bedroom by an armed intruder. The suspect reportedly forced her into another room where her mother and brother were already being held hostage by a group of men.
Investigators said at least two of the suspects were armed with firearms.
The gang allegedly stole mobile phones, a laptop and a router before forcing the complainant to unlock her banking application. Police said the suspects then transferred an undisclosed amount of money from her account using a card machine they had brought with them.
The suspects later forced the victim’s brother to drive them away from the homestead in a white Toyota Legend 45 bakkie. After reaching a secluded area, the gang reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Before escaping, the suspects allegedly threatened to kill the family if they reported the matter to police.
Cases of house robbery and kidnapping have been opened, and investigations are continuing.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in tracing the suspects to contact investigating officer Sergeant Mokako Maake on 072 917 2425 or 082 469 0900, or report through the nearest police station or the SAPS Crime Stop line.
