Johannesburg - An 18-year-old woman allegedly killed her boyfriend the day after Valentine's Day, Free State police said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Mamello Mokhuoane said Thando Lushaba went to visit her boyfriend on Saturday where she found him with another woman.
"Lushaba then left the boyfriend's house and went to her place of residence at 2010 village in Thabong," Mokhuoane said in a statement.
"It is alleged the boyfriend then went drinking with friends and Lushaba's brother, and when they came back from the tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning, she confronted him about his relationship with the other woman he was with earlier."
The two got into a heated argument and Lushaba allegedly stabbed her 23-year-old boyfriend once in the chest.
"Lushaba's brother, who did not want to be named, and with other witnesses rushed the victim to a hospital in Welkom. He was declared dead at the hospital on arrival."
Lushaba appeared in the Welkom Magistrate's Court on charges of murder on Monday.
She was expected to appear in court again next week for a bail application.
Mokhuoane said the name of the deceased could not be released as his family had not yet been informed.
