THE one woman had memeza, the other didn't and so a fight broke out.

So furious was the fight that it took the women into the middle of the road and now the memeza won't help either of them.

A magosha told Daily Sun what happened in Meadows Road, near Matlharantlheng squatter camp in Mangaung, Bloemfontein in the Free State on Thursday night.

She said Matumo Adoons (24) had memeza that she got from an inyanga.

"Matumo used the powder to get more customers. The other woman learnt about her secret and tried to rip Matumo's handbag away from her. That's when the fight started," said the woman.

"We managed to break up the fight and went away with our clients, leaving the two together. But when we came back we found the police at the scene and Matumo's body covered with a blanket," said the woman.

Matumo's mother said her daughter was not a prostitute.

"My daughter was living with her partner and they were expecting their first child," said Makamohelo Adoons (44).

She said her daughter was forced to stand on the corner with the prostitutes.

"How can a woman be in a stable relationship and be pregnant and still be a prostitute?" she asked.

Phakathi Adoons, Matumo's father, said the women told him the car that killed his daughter was a taxi and the driver had fled the scene. He said the cops found the car at the scene and traced the owner, who came to collect his taxi.

"I have lost my only daughter. We don't know how we are going to bury her," cried the father.

Another magosha said they visited the injured magosha in Pelonomi Hospital.

"She couldn't talk. All she could do was nod her head. We hope she recovers and comes back," she said.

Police spokeswoman Constable Joy Xaba said the two women were hit by a vehicle, allegedly in the middle of the road.

"One woman died at the scene and the other one was rushed to hospital," she said.

"Bloemspruit police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and no arrest has been made," said Xaba.
