The Migrant Workers Union in South Africa (MIWUSA) has mooted efforts to defend and assist Zimbabwean immigrants in that country who are among those who had their permits applications turned down.

This was revealed by the Zimbabwe Permits Assist (ZPA) through its Facebook post.

"A lot has been said about Zimbabwe Special Permits (ZSP) project , its now clear the project is ending monthend of September 2015," reads the post.

"The majority of the applicants have received their outcome , more than 12 000 have been rejected , the bulk of them are strongly contesting the decision. The SA minister did not give clear indication on the matter ,thou a veil review is on the card."

The organisation said the minister also indicated that slightly more 700 are yet to get their outcome ,however the mood on the ground indicate that more than that number is still waiting .

The organisation said following these revelations about ZSP issues, MIWUSA /ZIWUSA in conjunction with other stake holders will hold ZSP review meeting on Saturday August 29 .

"The aim of the meeting will be to formal assist those unfairly treated by DHA esp those who received dubious ZSP rejections and those who applied in November," the organisation said. "We also seek to assist those who might have been affected by this ZSP debacle eg fired at work , bank accounts being frozen etc .

We will also seize the opportunity to register new comers to our Union .I urge all those affected by ZSP debacle or those willing to join our movement, to attend this meeting."

The organisation advised members to share the information to all the migrants in South Africa.

" MIWUSA is there to protect and provide service to you . Whatever problem you encounter as a foreigner in South Africa , don't hesitate to approach us. The meeting will be at AME Church Center, First Floor as from 09.00 to 14.000," ZPA said.
