A 21-year old man is alleged to have killed his 20-year old girlfriend before hanging himself in Tlokweng last week.
The Voice reported that Maano Motlhasedi's body was found hanging from a tree while his girlfriend, Doreen Tshenyego's blood stained body was also found in the nearby bushes at Sefhoke ward in Tlokweng.
Police officers made the gruesome discovery on Monday following a text message that was sent to Tshenyego's cousin, apparently by Motlhasedi the previous evening, explaining where to find her dead body.
Tshenyego who was a student at Boitekanelo College is alleged to have left her rented house on February 28 without telling her house mate where she was going.
After receiving the report from Tshenyego's cousin, the police went to her house and when the house mate confirmed that she was not home, they started searching in the nearby bushes.
They found her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the neck and two blood stained knives were also found at the scene.
Superintendent Robson Maleka of Tlokweng Police confirmed the incident but said they are still investigating the matter. "The post-mortem was conducted and the bodies of both deceased have been handed to their relatives for burial. We're trying to establish if it was indeed a murder suicide, but until investigations are complete, the matter remains a suspected murder-suicide case," he said.
Tshenyego hailed from Mahalapye while Motlhasedi was from Moshopha village in Tswapong.
