GZF SA Hosts Successful Meeting in Johannesburg

The newly formed Global Zimbabwe Forum South Africa chapter managed to host a successful meeting on Saturday 5th November 2011.

The meeting was held at the Braamfontein Centre in Johannesburg

About 15 representatives from various civil society organisations based in South Africa such as the Peace and Democracy Project, Zimbabwe Youth Wing, Tree of Life Project, among others managed to attend the meeting.

The meeting had various discussions on such matters as the activities from all the represented organisations. Focus was mainly on humanitarian issues and deportations of Zimbabweans from South Africa.

There was a discussion on other possible challenges for 2012 especially those related to the possible referendum and elections in Zimbabwe

The partnerships that the GZF is forging with other organisations such as the local chapter of Amnesty International also came under spotlight

In the end, the meeting also agreed to have some co-options into the depleted national Co-ordination Committee for the GZF in South Africa.

The Committee now consists of the following members:

1. Solomon Sox Chikohwero (Chairperson)
2. Doctor Ncube (Vice Chairperson)
3. Chibi Chauruka (Treasurer)
4. Lilian Samson (Committee Member)
5. Sipho Moyo (Committee Member)
6. Luke Zunga (Committee Member)
7. Godfrey Phiri (Committee Member)
8. Gilbert Moyo (Committee Member)

Nora Tapiwa will continue with her role as the voluntary National Co-ordinator.
