The Ministry of Health and Child Care has intensified efforts to modernise Zimbabwe's healthcare system, with major upgrades underway at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo.
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora is currently inspecting progress at the institution, where significant developments have been recorded at the hospital's Radiotherapy Centre.
According to the Ministry, outdated radiotherapy machines are being decommissioned to pave the way for the installation of advanced high‑ and low‑energy cancer‑treatment equipment.
The new machines are expected to greatly expand access to life‑saving oncology services, improving treatment capacity and outcomes for cancer patients across the southern region.
The upgrades form part of government's broader national drive to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure equitable access to quality medical services under the "Health for All" initiative.
