The Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) outfit is on the brink of collapse amid revelations that some of its founding elders and members are contemplating abandoning Joyce Mujuru, while ZimPF Masvingo Province has recommended that the party withdraws its participation in the anticipated Mwenezi East and Masvingo Rural District Council Ward 12 by-elections, it has been learnt.
The development follows the resignation of two ZimPF senior members namely Norman Chitoro and Claudius Makova.
Chiroto is said ti have joined Noah Manyika's Build Zimbabwe Alliance.
Bulawayo24.com heard at the weekend that Didymus Mutasa (Elder), Rugare Gumbo (Elder), Ray Kaukonde (Member), Munacho Mutezo (National Finance Committee Chairperson), Sylvester Nguni (Presidential Spokesperson) and Prosper Gavanga National Youth Wing Deputy Chairperson are planning to dump Mujuru.
Coincidentally, Dzikamai Mavhaire's ZimPF Masvingo Province faction is said to have written to Mujuru demanding that she "decisively deal with party elders such as Mutasa and Rugare who are being accused for running parallel party structures," said the source.
The source revealed that the same province also recommended that "ZimPF should not field a candidate during the forthcoming Mwenezi East constituency by-election.
"ZimPF Masvingo Rural District Council Ward 12 by-election candidate should withdraw her candidature with immediate effect"..
Mujuru and ZPF are still smarting from the brutal electoral hiding they received during the recent Bikita West by-election where their candidate, Kudakwashe Gopo, lost heavily to Zanu PF's Beauty Chakabva.
