Dinginhlalo Moyo, the Brother to Mthwakazi Republic Party President Mqondisi Moyo has been arrested and is set to appear at Plumtree Court tomorrow in what the party has termed Frivolous and Vexatious charges of insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
MRP President's brother, Dinginhlalo is reportedly being subjected to trumped-up, frivolous and vexatious charges of undermining the office of the President.
In a statement, the party said the state is alleging that he insulted Zimbabwe President Emerson Mnangagwa and ZanuPF around early April 2022 at Silozwi Business Centre in Matobo District. Dinginhlalo Moyo is 58 years old.
Moyo is, however, denying the charges. He has been remanded out of custody after spending close to a week detained at Plumtree Prison on April 28, 2022.
"The circumstances leading to Dinginhlalo Moyo's arrest are suspicious. On his initial arrest he was abducted by 13 state security agents from Plumtree. Under normal circumstances, he was supposed to be arrested by Police responsible for Gwandavale and Lushumbe who have a base at Masiye camp in Lushumbe, or Matopos Police station which is the main Police station policing Matobo," read the statement.
"It also boggles the mind why he will have to be tried at Plumtree Magistrate court when there is Khezi District Magistrate court under whose jurisdiction Matobo District falls. The 13 police officers who came to arrest him in April 2022 were heavily armed with AK47s and different other sorts of guns."
The party said his arrest is crystal clear to all and sundry that the whole matter is politically motivated and meant to dampen the spirits of Mthwakazi Republic Party and the entirety of Mthwakazi populace, and to frustrate the family of MRP president.
"One wonders why the case keeps on resurfacing, after he was released from Plumtree prison when Mr Nqobani Sithole, his defense counsel, won him a bail. The state, at the close of trial, had indicated the case lacked merit. Three years later one wonders where the case has gotten the merit," read the statement.
"It has not been forgotten that on 23 March 2022, the president of Zimbabwe Emerson Mnangagwa, the murderer of our people through the Genocide of 1983 to 1987 threatened MRP president , members and Mthwakazi people at large, with shortening their lives for thinking that they can separate Mthwakazi from Zimbabwe."
MRP noted that his threats are baseless and confirms that he is a blood thirsty vampire who survives on the blood of Mthwakazi people.
"This is contrary to the statement he said when he ascended to power through the coup of November 2017, whereby he claimed to be a listening President of a new dispensation. What he is displaying is his failure to listen to Mthwakazi people's call for self determination. MRP will not be intimidated as it takes its self determination agenda to the next higher level. There is no going back," read the statement.
"An injury to one of us is an injury to all of us. Nothing for us without us. Under the current Zimbabwe constitution there is no law which prohibits undermining the office of the president as the same Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of association. We plead with MRP members to throng the Plumtree Magistrate tomorrow for solidarity, spirituality and morale to Mr Dinginhlalo Moyo. We are aware though, that the information came at short notice."
