Highlanders suspend CEO again

Highlanders F.C. have once again suspended chief executive officer Denzil Mnkandla over the same allegations that previously saw him placed on leave following claims the club was prejudiced of about US$20,000 during a pre-season training camp in Botswana.

Mnkandla was initially suspended before being reinstated in April after his legal representatives challenged the club's disciplinary process, arguing that it had been marred by procedural irregularities.

A source close to developments at the Bulawayo giants confirmed that the former FC Platinum general manager had been served with a fresh suspension letter.

"He was served with his suspension on Monday and the suspension stems from the same allegations as before," the source said.

Efforts to obtain comment from Highlanders chairman Kenneth Mhlophe were unsuccessful.

Another source said executive committee member Kindman Ndlovu has been appointed acting chief executive officer pending the conclusion of Mnkandla's disciplinary proceedings.

Ndlovu has previously served in the acting chief executive officer role following the resignation of former CEO Brian Moyo, who was later convicted of fraud relating to player transfers.

Moyo had succeeded the late Sihlangu Dlodlo before leaving the club.

Highlanders have not publicly disclosed the details of the renewed disciplinary process. The allegations against Mnkandla remain subject to the club's internal proceedings, and no findings have yet been made public.
