Amacimbi thief arrested In Beitbridge

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent robbery in Beitbridge in which cash and five large bags of Mopani worms were allegedly stolen.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police identified the suspect as Collin Mupanduki, who is accused of carrying out the robbery at a residence in the New Alpha suburb on July 1.
Police allege that Mupanduki stole R1,600 in cash and five large bags of Mopani worms, commonly known as amacimbi or madora.
According to investigators, the suspect was arrested while allegedly attempting to find buyers for the stolen Mopani worms.
Upon his arrest, police recovered the five bags of Mopani worms as well as an assortment of weapons, including an axe, a knife and several machetes, which are believed to have been used during the robbery.
National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest and commended members of the public for providing information that led to the suspect's swift apprehension.
Mupanduki is expected to appear in court soon to face robbery charges.
Police said the recovered weapons and the stolen goods will form part of the evidence in the criminal proceedings.
