The Zanu PF Youth League in Bulawayo Province has expressed profound sorrow following the tragic deaths of three senior Highlanders Football Club executives, describing the loss as a devastating blow to both the club and Zimbabwe’s football fraternity.

In a solidarity and condolence statement, the Youth League said it had received with “shock and devastation” the news of the untimely passing of Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, the club’s Chairman, Sifiso Siziba, the Vice Chairman, and Nkani Khoza, the Treasurer.

“The loss of these dedicated individuals in a single moment is a profound blow to the club and the entire football community,” the statement reads.

The Youth League extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, friends and loved ones, assuring them of its support during this difficult period. “To the families, friends and loved ones, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. Know that you are not alone. We stand with you in this dark hour, lifting you up in our thoughts and prayers,” the statement said.

Paying tribute to the deceased, the Youth League said the three executives were more than football administrators. It described them as passionate custodians of Highlanders FC’s rich heritage who served the game with loyalty, courage and distinction.

Addressing the Highlanders family, the Youth League urged players, technical staff and supporters to remain united and resilient in honour of the late leaders’ legacy. “We honour their memory by maintaining the unity, resilience and proud spirit they championed for our beloved club,” it said.

The organisation also called on the football community and the nation to keep the bereaved families in their prayers while respecting their privacy as they mourn, adding to wider conversations around football community solidarity and Highlanders FC leadership tributes.
