AN unidentified man has dragged his 21-year-old wife to court for allegedly terminating a pregnancy and concealing the foetus under a disused car.
To buy her liberty, the woman, Unity Mpofu, of Umvutshwa Farm on the outskirts of Bulawayo claimed that she had a miscarriage.
Mpofu was not asked to plead to concealing birth when she appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Charity Maphosa on Saturday.
She was remanded out of custody on her own cognisance to Tuesday next week.
Prosecutor, Mr Malvern Nzombe said the State was still waiting for a medical report to confirm whether Mpofu had a miscarriage or deliberately terminated the pregnancy.
He told the court that it is still unknown whether the foetus was stillborn or it died during or after birth.
Mr Nzombe told how on Thursday last week at about 2pm Mpofu concealed the foetus under a disused car in the bush near a stream.
The incensed husband reported the matter to the police leading to her arrest.
