Anti-drug and substance abuse campaign concert set for 18 February

Berina Community Radio Station has reported that Kadoma Youth for development is organizing an Anti-drug & substance abuse campaign concert set for 18 February 2017 at the newly refurbished Rimuka hall.

This concert is a brainchild of KY4D aimed at changing the lives of youth in Kadoma through arts.

The initiative will go beyond performing on stage but it is also a social awareness campaign by KY4D to educate youths on the dangers of early marriages and drug/ substance abuse, which have become prominent in our beloved city of Kadoma.

The concert will be used to unearth raw talent at grassroots level that will take the campaign to other township in Kadoma.

Different local artistes, will entertain people at the concert among them Princess Amanda, Soulflanger, ,Trice, H- Files, Ninja, Budiriro cultural arts, professor tee, chuchie and also hope to invite big names as guest artistes.

Clean music.com spokesperson, Amos Baiton said they are confident the project will bring change among the youths in Kadoma.

"We believe, this campaign we are doing with our partners will go a long way in helping youths transform their minds, he said.

Queen of Kadoma music, Princess "chimhamha" Amanda one of the artistes spearheading the campaign, said the initiative is a noble idea that seeks to mould models and discourage youths from using drugs and early marriages.

"As musicians we are responsible for and contribute towards moulding those who draw their inspiration from us and we want to lead by example and advocate for the eradication of drug abuse", she said.

"We have realized our own mistakes and what they have done to our city and the nation at large, as we have pushing the wrong agenda through some of our songs. We are now being proactive in re-ordering, re-orienting and re- building Kadoma."

Kadoma youth for development chairperson, Marvellous Tope applauded clean music.com aand KY4D arts department for coming up with such an initiative. The concert strategic interventions are anchored on our philosophy to move young people from being victims to owners. This is popularly referred to as the V20 philosophy. The overall goal of V20 is to increase the voice, visibility and influence of young people through the KY4D movement towards having greater impact in addressing and solving Kadoma's attitudinal, value and youth development challenges. He further promised firework for people who are coming to the concert.

"Although we are facing challenges in terms of finances we promise people we are going to have a successful concert with the support that people in Kadoma are giving us," said Tope

"Personally as person born and grow in Kadoma the city of gold, i have realized that Kadoma has a lot of young talent who just need guidance, funding and a platform to perform."
