A Harare man, who has been abusing his ex-girlfriend for allegedly dumping him, was yesterday dragged to civil court.
Esina Masusu, who was seeking protection order against a Madyira, told the court that she was living in constant fear of the abusive ex-boyfriend who kept on troubling her.
"We had an affair from last year in January and we broke up early this year," said Masusu.
She told the court that ever since they broke up, Madyira has been insulting her in public on different occasions.
"I am living in fear of Madyira and I regret ever dating him.
"He slapped me sometime in January when I bumped into him at a shopping centre," she said.
She added:
"I am now living in fear because of him and early this year he assaulted me twice in public.
"He threatens to beat me and forbids me from seeing other men."
In response, Madyira argued that Elsina was fabricating stories.
"I have never insulted her in public, she is lying. We had an affair once but she is the one who has a tendency of harassing me whenever she sees me with a woman," he said.
He added:
"She is the one who cannot control her jealous behavior and she insults me when she sees me with any woman."
"I only approached her because she owes me some money that she is failing to pay," he said.
Magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who presided over the matter, granted a protection order in Masusu's favour and Madyira was ordered never to insult, assault or threaten the applicant in any way.
