The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA) has stepped up its programme this year with plans to honour community pioneers and legends in the UK.

"It is high time we look back and take note of our own heroes and heroines in the prestigious and unique journey of the awards," said ZAA Chairman Conrad Mwanza."

"We will confer honours to deserved recipients who have had a forerunner position in taking an active role in flying high the proudly Zimbabwean flag with persistent determination in various communities of England", said the founder.

Individuals who will be recognised as legends or pioneers include Ezra Sibanda, renowned broadcaster and community organiser; Marshall Gore, for his contribution in sports and community development, Billy Katiyo for his involvement in charitable causes, Lastone H Mliswa for pioneering work in film industry and arts, Wellington Tafirenyika for services in music and arts, Tawanda Sibotshiwe for creative entrepreneurship as a music producer and Kisset Chirengende, the face behind Kyros Sports, a sports consulting company.

There will also be recipients of the Chairman's Honorary Awards which include Dr Ian Chikanza and Doug Munatsi who have both made significant contributions to the charity and business sectors; Fikelephi Jackson and Lettie Chimbi for their charity work and Pastor Jide David Modede, a Friend of Zimbabwe, for his contribution to the Life Project.

Z.A.A. was borne out of a simple vision, which seeks to recognise Zimbabweans in the UK, S.A, U.S.A, and Australia and around the world who are making positive contributions in the communities they live in.

The annual event brings together business leaders from all sectors, government officials, diplomats, civil society representatives from NGO's, heads of finance & trade and the international press.

As a global series of awards ceremonies the brand is now among the most significant and prestigious events within the Zimbabwean and broader Diaspora community calendar.

It will continue to spotlight and appreciate the efforts all Zimbabweans and their friends regardless of language, colour, race or belief in Africa and abroad.
