New school to open in Matabeleland South

As the controversy over planned closure of 40 schools in Matabeleland South rages on, a new school in Bulilima district, Himago Secondary is set to open this term.
This is meant to reduce distances walked by pupils and curb drop-outs, Bulilima Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer, John Brown Ncube is quoted saying by Star FM news.
According to Ncube, the construction of the school is complete and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is in the process of securing teaching staff.
Two classrooms were furnished with the assistance of the International Organisation of Migration (IOM).
On Monday, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango stoked controversy when she 40 schools in the province should be shut down claiming they are not viable.
